ICT dalam Pendidikan: Prospek dan Cabaran dalam Pembaharuan Pedagogi

http://pkukmweb.ukm.my/~jurfpend/journal/vol%2032%202007/JPendidikan32/Jpend32%5B09%5D.pdf

Because the globalization age revolves around information and communication
technology (ICT), educational development should therefore place importance
on the socialisation and mastery of ICT skills among students. Changes should
be made to the teaching and learning system in the classrooms where the
constructivist method is preferred. This approach can promote enthusiasm and
encourage students to be more responsible for their learning thus inculcating
lifelong learning amongst them. A quasi experiment was conducted to see the
effect on students’ achievement of the apprentice approach (constructivist) versus
the traditional approach (behavioural) in learning computer as a subject. In
the traditional method, a step by step instruction was provided by the teacher
while in the apprentice approach the teacher’s role was that of a facilitator to
encourage students to solve problems. Students had to develop web page in
groups. The research findings show that there is a significant difference in the
students’ achievement. Students’ assignments which used the apprentice
approach are of better quality in terms of design ,layout arrangement, colour
selection, and all the links in the web page are functioning. As such, the
researchers suggest that pedagogical changes should be made consistent with
the constructivism learning theory. They should also be integrated in the inservice
teaching programs. On going and comprehensive research should also
be conducted to ascertain the effects of socialization of ICT on youths is effective
and lost lasting.

PENGGUNAAN KOMPUTER DALAM PENGAJARAN-PEMBELAJARAN DALAM KALANGAN GURU SEKOLAH MENENGAH: SATU KAJIAN KES DI PULAU PINANG (COMPUTER USAGE IN TEACHING AND LEARNING AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS: A CASE STUDY IN PENANG)

http://web.usm.my/km/24-06/KM%20ART%2011.pdf

The results showed that there is no significant difference between male and female respondents, age categories and major subjects taught using computers in teaching and learning. However, factors such as knowledge, attitude, personality, support from organisations and innovation attributes of the computer (relative advantage, compatibility, complexity, trialibility and observability) were proven to have influenced computer usage in teaching and learning among teachers.

In the education field, computer usage in teaching and learning activities among teachers have become a priority. Continuous efforts made by the government to encourage computer usage among teachers are with the aim of producing a computer literate generation as well as sensitive to the current technological developments.
In line with the government is efforts to encourage the usage of computers, it is timely to conduct a research on computer usage in teaching and learning in schools. This is to gauge the level of computer usage among teachers. A case study of a group of teachers from three schools in the North-East District of Penang, namely, SMK Abdullah Munshi, SMK Bukit Gambir and SMK Datuk Hj. Mohd. Nor Ahmad, was conducted. The objectives of the study were to measure the computer usage in teaching and learning as well as the factors that influence the computer usage. The Diffusion of Innovation theory has been applied and is fundamental for this research. Using the survey method, a questionnaire was developed and distributed to a total number of 184 teachers from the respective schools.
